Hi,

Can anyone tell me how to raise my gh and kh levels of my tapwater slightly?
At the minute its....
ph. 7.4
gh 2 dh
kh 1 dh.

I would like get both levels around 5 dh to prevent ph crash.

Magnesium salts (ebson salt) and calcium carbonate is Probably the cheap method.

Coral gravel or crushed shell will also raise these levels.

Shop bought chemicals (waterlife-kent-API)

Its cheaper if you went to a major Boots Chemist to get some salts, rather than some branded product. Although they may be good they cost an arm and leg to buy.

Big stores of Boots sell Sodium Bicarbonate B.P (KH), and Epsom Salts B.P (GH). I used them for my african cichlids to get 15-17 hardness.
