We have recently bought 2 Plecos from a LFS.

They were labelled up as a Starlight Pleco, which we called Twinkle, and a Snow Ball Pleco called Nieve.

After looking through this site and particularly the L/LDA resource section we are a little unsure about exactly what we have.

Im pretty sure we havent got an L102, which is supposed to be a Snowball Pleco:

Im also unsure about the Starlight Pleco/Ancistrus?:

I hope you Pleco experts out there can help us some more :)

The following are 2 videos of our Plecs:

Twinkle

&

Nieve

Thanks in advance for any help you can give us.

PS. Please excuse our Panda Corys, they get everywhere :)

I can't access the video clip so can you post a picture because that would be alot quicker.

Nieve might also be LDA33:http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/lo ... i/31_f.php

Not Great Quality because they are quick clips from the Video I made, hope you can see enough.

The ancistrus appears to just be a young common ancistrus, not a starlight or starry night "type", sorry. They have that pattern of spotting and the white tips to their fins when they are younger, 2 inches and under.

Mine looked just like that as babies, here is the male now.

:D Did you consider you might have a snowball Baryancistrus LDA33? Which I think is much prettier than a snowball Peckolita L102.

Hmm yes I think she may be just that :)

The LDA33 is also known as the Snowball Baryancistrus too?

Does anyone have more information on these plecs, ie size, preferred food etc?

Thanks for your help!

:D I am only too glad to try to help anyone who shares an interest in those fasinating plecos. I have owned just one of what I beleive to be LDA 33. I believe it is a female and have been trying to get a male.According to the Aqualog supplement I have it says the following. Found in Brazil:Para;Rio Tapajos,Sao Luis,W,15 cm(?). Temp:71-77F .pH6.5-7.2. That is all it says(you cannot always believe everything you read) but I hope this helps you. The one I have eats frozen Hikari bloodworms and most flake foods. I keep the temp at around 80F. I also have hard well water and I would think it would prefer soft water, but the fish seems to be doing quite well . Once again goob luck.
