Feeding zuchini

I am starting to feed my Gold Nugget & L-333 zuchini. I forgot to remove the soft middle part with the seeds the first time I fed them. The next day, that part was all gone, among other parts of the zuchini. Both are still fine, so I guess that part is not harmful to them. Though I just wondered if you just leave the zuchini as is or remove out the soft middle part with the seed.

It seems the Gold Nugget prefers the outskin, while the L-333 enjoys everything.

By all means, feed it all to them. There's a lot of nutrients tied up in those seeds and most plecos that will eat veggies seem to relish sitting around and chewing the inside contents out. It's not at all uncommon to find pieces of the seed shell laying around with the insides sucked out of it.

Do you guys leave it in there until they finish the whole thing or remove it after a day or so? The reason I ask is it's hard to tell if there's any type of fungus that's growing out of it that could be harmful. So whenever I fed them zuchinis, I have been removing it after a day, finished or not.

Try feeding thinner slices till you get an idea of how much they eat in a day. I've normally just left it and they do fine, but if in there too long it will start to foul and could cause a problem.

Another question 'bout the zucchini. At the advice of numerous books, I've begun feeding slices to the herbivorous cats in my tanks. Until now, I had been relying on spirulia tablets. Should I still supplement with the tablets, or will the zucchini support all nutritional requirements? :?

Always keep in mind:
"NO ONE THING WILL SUPPORT ALL THE FISHES NUTRITIONAL REQUIREMENTS!"

And Yes, I wrote that in CAPS on purpose!

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you feed your plecos any other fruits/vegetables. As well as zucchini, I also feed my bristle-nose's peas. About half an hour ago I put in a small slice of apple for the first time, and in the first 5 minutes they were already eating it.
Just curious to see what other feed their plecos?

Cheers, CatBrat.

Zuchini, pumpkin (kent or jap for preference) celery and brocolli stems are the prefered food in my tanks. They will leave algae wafers and spirulina sit for hours in the hope of something more to thier taste. I boil or blanche all fresh veg so it sinks.

Anyone tried spinach? Im doing a little experiment involving freezing it. He ignored fresh spinach for the most part though(he nibbled on it, but perhaps is was not soft enough to eat).
