A view weeks ago one of my albino's started to make strange moves. It shoots up to the surface to get air like all cory's, and then it happens....
It's spiraling uncontroled thru the tank and hits objects and other fish.
this is not going on every time but aprox. 60/65% of the time it comes up.

All parameters are perfect. The same goes for CO².
Also no other cory display's this behavior(7 albino's, 3 Julii and 5 H.schultzi)

Anyone got an answer?

i had a pygmy cory that did this but when we looked closely we found he had lost his tail is your fish fully finned.

Yep, he's in perfect condition. not even a small cut in his tail.

It's kind a funny, seeing him swim like that

this is a long shot if he is ok generally could it be his eyes dont albino animals suffer from dodgy eyes it could be the same for fish.

Don't think this is what's troubeling him.
It looks to me as if he's suffering from something like epeleptics. (don't now if its the right name for it)

Has any one thought of gill flukes ? I could not be sure without seeing the animal but the classic symptoms are rapid breathing or panting, dash to the surfase for a gulp of air, then spiral or 'fall' throught the water to the bottom again.

as far as i can see he's in good shape. No fisible outgrows or things like that and no fast breathing also. He acts just like the others accept for the spiraling.

Gill flukes are microscopic little flat worms that infest the gills. Just that going to the surface and spiralling is a clasic symptom of infestaton.

I am not familiar with medications and aquariom products in Europe. Some one else may be able to help. I use acraflavine solution. 250mg to 50 litres. But the drugs are only available through a veterinarian supply house here.

There must be something available at a reasonable cost from your aquarium supplier.

If I ever suspect parasites in my Aquaria, the first thing I do is take a sample from the main Bio chamber of the filter and examine it under a microscope.
Most of the basic fish parasites are easy to see under 40X magnification with a cheap hobby microscope.

Well in a lot of cases fish are susceptible to disease when stressed or water conditions are wrong.
Iâ??ve not long got over a Costia infection in one tank, only 2 out of 16 fish showed symptoms so not all will show signs necessarily.

This sounds like swim bladder disease. Please see for following link regarding info/cure.

The confusing thing is it doesn't happen all the time. Maybe it's getting a high off fresh O2

How funny- the albino cory I've had for about 1 year (give or take a couple of months) just did the very same thing last night. It looked like an epileptic death spiral, and he landed upside down, breathing VERY rapidly. Today, he seems perfectly healthy, and is acting normal. No rotted fins, no visible parasites, no salt in water, no swim bladder problems. Hmmm.....
