I just got a group of these little guys. They were listed as Rineloricaria filamentose on the import invoice. Is this a valid name ??? or have I been sucked in.

Hi Alan,
there is no
Rineloricaria filamentosa, but a
Dasyloricaria filamentosa. Many
Rineloricaria species have been identified as
Dasyloricaria filamentosa in the past and all i am aware of turned out to be
Rineloricaria. Your fish might be any species of
Rineloricaria, some species that have been imported under the name
D. filamentosa (or the non existent name "Rineloricaria filamentosa") are for example
R. eigenmanni,
R. castroi and
R. fallax.
If you can post a pic, it might help identify your fish.
Greetings,
Achim
P.S.: Yes, i am aware of the fact that Rineloricaria has been split

Thanks Achim,
I suspected as much, a dodge to get them past inspection here. I got myself three pair so will just have to get them through the rigors ofshipping and 2 weeks in quarantine, put a bit of condition and size on them and see what have got.
Thanks
Alan.
