Picked this one up and I don't see any photos of in the Cat-elog under the oto sp.

Any ideas.

I don't think that is an Otocinclus. I think it's a Schizolecis of some kind. Compare it to the pics of and see for yourself.

I agree, some sort of Schizolecis. It will need cooler water than your average Oto, doing best closer to 70º than 80ºF.

Doh that's not good on the temp issue. I keep this tank around 76-77. I purchased a few ottos and he must have been mixed in.

Didn't even notice until I got home and saw him last night.
It does look like the pictures although mine is a lighter color. Very cool looking. Maybe a different species.

You think it will do okay in the warmer water? Or maybe take him back and exchange him?

no Schizolecis, but a Pseudotothyris or Otothyris species, imo Pseudotothyris janeirensis Britski & Garavello, 1984 (see Welsatlas volume I page 384 for those that have it).
These are often imported with other Hypoptopomatins from the same region (like Schizolecis guntheri, Otothyris lophophanes,...). They are very sensitive fish and have to be kept at low temperatures. The Welsatlas also gives some waterparameters from a P. janeirensis biotope visited by Lacerda and Evers: clearwater, 23.5°C, pH6.5, conductivity 38µS/cm (Oktober 1996, Rio Lilico at Barro Branco, Rio de Janeiro state). Thought to be threatened by strongly increasing pollution in this region.
