To rescue or not to rescue
at work there is a 10 gallon fish tank with 2 common plecos and 2 "other" fish (i have no idea what they are). The owner is wanting to get rid of the fish and hoefully the tank too. I know that these are not going to be very well cared for if they go to anyone but a few people i know here. My question is should I take the fish? I have a 55 gallon tank with a common pleco, a SA Bumblebee catfih and 3 tiger barbs (soon to be 3 tiger and 3 green barbs). I know the commons will outgrow my tank and I have no idea when I will get a larger tank. the plecos are about 3 to 5 inches, one is smaller than the other by about .5 to 1 inch. Should I rescue these guys? I think I already know the answer, but I just want to hear from others im making the right decision.

You absolutely should rescue the fish....
I rescued a whole tankfull from work about 2 years ago... I took them all home, and then took the ones that I could not look after to the fish club and gave them to people who would give them good homes, especially new members who wanted to try some fish..
Take the whole lots, tank and all home and see if you can find good homes for the fish.

i found out today that they are only giving the fish away and keeping the tank.
This is the same tank I was talking about here so they definitely need a new home.
I am trying to determine what kind of fish are currently in the tank, there are 2 common plecos and 2 other fish. They are tiger striped, black stripes on gold body, the stripes are plentiful and fairly thin. The fish also has 2 "whiskers" from the bottom that are at least as long as the fish. It is a thin fish with a tall and long body, it is longer than it is tall. I really wish I could take a picture but I dont have the means to. Are there any websites I can go to that have pictures of fish I can browse through, lol
also, how would you recomend I move the fish?
perware, baggies like the LFS? I have little or no cash right now so I will have to make do for now.

no, both the top and bottom fins run about the length of the body, the body is a bit longer, and there are more stripes, the body is also more of a gold color.

hmm, still not right. im going to have to ask the guy when he gets back what kinda fish they are. I just want to find out if they will outgrow my tank as well.
that one is close but the fish is a much smaller fish, the mouth is very small compared to that one, the stripes are still even tighter and thinner than on that one. the tail doesnt look right either, it only has one fin back there really. the stripes are not uniform, the top fin ( I will learn the correct terms, I swear I will) is small and in the middle of the back. the lower fin runs almost the entire length of the fish. the tail is almost spotted instead of striped.
