L059: pair or single?

My LFS just got in some white-seam bushynose pl*cos--L059s, according to the distributor. I'm planning to get at least one for my Rio Negro biotope, and was wondering if a pair might be a good idea. I'm not intent on breeding them--I just like pl*cos and want a nice biotope display. I thought they might show better color if maintained in a pair.

BTW, the tank is 46 gallons. I'm just about at my bioload limit, as I have a good-sized school of cardinal tetras and a small group of Otos in it already. Filtration is a Fluval 404, and I do a 30-50% water change weekly. Water parameters are: pH 6, gH 3, temperature 79F.

Which would you folks choose: a single specimen, or a pair? Which would probably be more comfortable for the pl*cos?

Hi!

Buy a pair, your tank can take it, and you might spawn them and be able to place these nice little guys to some fellow aquarists friends in the aera where you are...
By the way, your Ancistrus is certainly , formely L183, they are often found under the wrong ID of L59, which is a totally different fish even if it's also belong to the genus Ancistrus

Cheers
