Hi Ron,

I din do anything special to bring out the redness in my L24 and L25. Listed below are the perimeters of my tank water and types of food being fed.

pH = 6.5-7.0, temp = 28-30 degrees celsius, ammonia = 0, nitrite = 0,gH =4 dgH, kH = 3dgH

I feed them various food granules (sinking granules that are meant for discus) that are rich in carotene, Hikari frozen bloodworm that are enriched in various Vitamins and carotene and algae wafers.

The plecos really look good.
Very interestingly this kind of tank setup looks very "sterile" to my eyes. If you check german tank pics youll never find anybody using barebottoms for show tanks, so this is a very strange sight.
I know taste cant be discussed and it might be strange for some of you but i find this tank looks horrible.

I agree it looks sterile, I prefer a substrate in my tanks to make it look more natural. About the only change i would make to the tank is a substrate, sandy or sandy looking, with some plant, swords of some type. otherwise the tank looks good ;) but that is all personal preference too. I just want to know what size the tank is and that different fish in the tank, as well as his filter info ;) I kinda want to make my own like that

Hi guys, I agree that the barebottom tank looks kinda unnatural. I used to have gravel in my tank but maintenance wise it is really a hassle cuz the amount of poo produced by my plecos are really amazingly mountainous! I siphon once every day or two and the gravel often get sucked up too as I m very particular about getting every piece of waste out of the water! Furthemore, there are lots of waste trapped in the gravel layer and this really makes me uncomfortable as I feel that it is really a calamity waiting to happen considering the bio-load of my tank.Hence, I decided to have a barebottom tank for easy maintenance! Any plants (other than plastic type) that I put in my tank will be totally chomped up and destroyed in no time as I have quite a number of royals in my tank and hence, plants are out!

The tank size is 6 x 2.5 x 2ft which houses about 700 litres of water. The turn over rate is 4680L per hour. I have a Ehiem2260 and a 2250 canister filter for bio-filtration and a Ehiem1250 connected to an overhead filter tray for mechanical filtration.The outlet of the 2260 and 2250 are position in a way such that most of the waste will be push by the current to my 1250. I also have a UV sterilizer connected to the outlet of my Ehiem2260 and it is switched on alternate days. There are also 4 airstones connected to an AC/DC pump. There is also an electronic pH/Temp meter for daily observation of tank parameters. I believe in prevention rather than cure!
