T. caribensis, differs from other species by having two phenotypic colorations specific to the species. The specimens of 70.7 - 79.2 mm of E.L. have a thin black line on the horizontal line, running from the operculum to the center of the base of the caudal fin, ending with a small black dot, with irregular large and small dots on the upper, lower, and dorsal region of the body. The dorsal region of the head has small black dots on the flanks and center up to the snout in black color. The dorsal, pectoral, anal, and caudal fins have dots at the base, with black-colored rays. The pelvic fin is hyaline. The horizontal line is black and more noticeable in specimens of 83.4 - 93 mm of S.L. The black dots on the lower region are numerous and small. Small black dots are more numerous in the upper region of the horizontal line; the large black dots are found more towards the supradorsal region, from the supraoccipital to the beginning of the caudal fin. The caudal, dorsal, and pectoral fins have small dots throughout the area. The pelvic fin is hyaline. The abdominal and lower regions of the head are light brown. It has 36 free vertebrae and 5 branchiostegal rays.
