Hi,

due to a coincidence I got 16 banjo catfish like these :
http://www.planetcatfish.com/cotm/1997-06.htm

They were in bad shape and 2 didn't survive. So I still got 14 of the (3 big ones, 11 smaller)

Now that I have them, I give it a try to get them to spawn.

I made a tank ready for them measuring 100*50*50 (in cm). Sand as a substrate. As many hiding places as possible. No other fish until now (to make sure they get their share of food). temp = 26°C.

waterparameters : KH=6, GH=12, pH=7.6 (bump :? )

planning to feed them frozen bloodworms, sinking cichlid and pleco pellets, chopped earthworms, succhini (?).

Would this a enough ?? any remarks / experiences ??

The only thing what's new to me is that spawing would be initiated by a drop in temperature (like corys).

But it still mention that captive spawings are accidental. Is this because they breed that difficult or because nobody really tried because a lack of interest (not expensive, shy, weird)

I love to hear some experiences of owners who had a group of at least six for a longer period.
