Hi folks,

I'm Kevin.. a 39 year old guy with a strange attraction to Plecos :chuckle:

My wife got me a 10 gallon tank for Christmas in 2002 and this year we decided we were enjoying it so much that we would get a bigger setup. Our current tank has a 7 inch Common Pleco who is very active and fun to watch. We also have a Khuli Loach and a couple Tetras.

I now have a 36 gallon bowfront that is 32wx16dx21h and a Fluval 304 and I'm looking forward to moving the Pleco over to a bigger home and getting a couple more of them to share the larger space..

I haven't set it up the new tank yet, that's my main reason for coming here and reading, reading, reading

I want to make sure I do this correctly so the new tank is as enjoyable as the old one was/is.

I'll start another post with my substrate / driftwood / prefilter questions~

I'm sure he'll like his new big home much better than this 10g :D

I'm going to use a much smaller "gravel" (not quite sand though) and have driftwood, slate, and live plants in the new tank.

I'm still deciding on tank mates.. I really want to make sure everyone gets along together and won't destroy the plants.

I'm thinking about a small school of marble hatchet fish for the top swimmers.. maybe even 8 or 10 of them.

I've got this guy for the bottom as well as a lone Khuli Loach..(love him too, might get a couple more of the Khulis)

I think one or 2 more Plecos as well, but only a variety that is less than 6" when full grown.

THe hard decision is what to put in the tank as mid swimmers.. maybe just a pair of something in the 4-7" range?

Still researching~

Thanks for the welcome.. I've spent hours reading already !

nice looking pleco :)

If I had more knowledge I would comment on the rest, hehe

I do know that the common pleco can reach around 19 inches long, so he still has some growing to do ;)

Hey there,

Might I suggest you leaving the khulis in the 10 and getting him some friends.

Send the pleco to the new tank, I love schools of hatchets, very effective. 8-10 would be super.

As for some mid swimmers, well, make sure they aren't something that might nip fins. I am thinking of a mid sized tetra... lemon maybe.
