incense smoke

Post by naturalart »

Anyone have experience with the effects of burning incense in the same room with an aquarium?

I'm thinking it can't be good.

As a teenager I do remember the fishes gasping at the surface when using incense.
Not sure there are any studies on it but I don't allow it or use it anywhere near the aquariums, or anything one might burn such as candles, smoking or any fumes such as aeresols. I find it easier to have the aquariums in another room if living with other people. Incense, candles etc. are known to be risky with reptiles, small mammals, birds and it's not great for our health either but I say if it's not safe for birds or reptiles I wont allow it around the aquariums. It does kind of work differently when dealing with water but better safe then sorry.
