update of aureus, how come the male? fanning eggs does not have cheek tufts like the other male? pictured

Good question. He does have odontodes, but they are not easily seen in this camera angle.

This update appears to be just some new photos, and possibly separate fish from different keepers, as one male looks to be a sexually mature, fully grown male while the other looks to be a sexually mature young male, is that correct.

I don't know what was changed. If it was a text field, that usually appears when you hover your mouse over the word update on the home page. But some changes don't trigger an itemization. That said, just adding a photo doesn't trigger an update as far as I know.

Sometimes they are done automatically by programs (bots) that are designed to scour the website and make updates when posted data doesn't match scientifically accepted data. Other times they are done manually by any of the admins here.
