Help ID cat and pleco

Post by SAcichlid »

I have a cat that I would like to positively confirm, as well as a pleco. Pictures attached.

I believe the cat to be a Tatia intermedia, and the pleco as a Pseudorinelepis genibarbis

It does not have the more vertical, extended dorsal fin that the fisheri appears to have, respectfully.

I agree it's Trachelyopterus, and it could be a female . But I'd also consider .

The pleco in not sure about.

Cheers, Eric

Thank you both for your input.

The more I look at Trachelyopterus, I would agree that it is in the same family.

A little history on the fish. It was collected by a group of us in Peru in August 2022, in a tributary to the Ucayali River. It is one of the more interesting specimens that I brought back, though its nocturnal habits have made it difficult to see it out and about.

Definatley not a T. intermedia, Based on the anal fin definitely a Trachelyopterus. The Jaw-shape in T. galeatus is very unique and is an identifying feature. Your's appears to display this. Also even if it didn't have the jaw this is a male fish and adult male T. fisheri look different as stated above by others. I am 99.99% confident on the woodcat I am not a pleco expert so I am of no help
there.
Thanks,
-- Sean

Edit: just saw your new reply if it is peruvian it is probably similar to Eric's group of fish. There are no Peruvian fisheri so this makes me even more confident
