unknown wood catfish

Post by Catfish-ologist »

Hey everybody,
Yesterday I was in Tennessee and I stopped by a high quality lfs there that had "midnight catfish". I instantly thought Auchenipterichthys coracoideus. Although when I looked into the tank this was not the case. They had a total of 5 wood catfish in that tank, one was a real Zamora and the rest were obviously different. So like any curious catfish enthusiast would, I bought the Zamora and two of the others. I have looked at every species that I could think of and none of them looked close to the fish. So that is why posting to PC to ask for assistance in Identifying these fish.

I know these photos aren't the best but they are always moving.

I had the same wrong 'ID' at my LFS. Probably same supplier.

I personally have never seen a juvenile fisheri... I must say the adults look alot different than my fish. They are currently 2.5". The closest match I could find to their current color scheme was https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/sp ... es_id=1106

I was thinking also, although I wasn't sure of species.

Cheers, Eric
