Ok I just noticed one of the ottos in my planted tank has a big clump of fungus engulfing its right pectoral fin. This has happened recently as they were fine when I last did a head count(a few days ago).

Other than the fact it hinders his swimming it does not appear to bother him(although I know before long this will not be the case).

Water params are

PH 6.8
Ammo Not known as I have run out of tablets, although I performed a 20% waterchange on saturday
NitrIte 0 ppm
NitrAte 20 ppm

I cant isolate the fish as my Q tank has a small red severum in it.Would it be safe to treat the tank with Protozin or Myaxzin?

Thanks

You definatley want to isolate him even use a buck if u have to! Get a good fungacide and heavily aerate the water as some medications tend to lower the O2 concentration...

I'ive succesfully treated mouth fungus with methylene blue...

Well I have isolated him in a breeding trap and treated the tank with a fungicide, when I netted him the big lump of fungus actually came of on the net to reveal a small wound.I think my recently added pair of florida flag fish might have bitten him leading to the fungal infection(they have been pestering my corys and platies).I have octozin that I could add and I have also raised the temp.I'm going to try and get some melafix asap as well.I'm still not sure if he will make it.

Anyone ken if theres anything else I should be doing?

My experience suggest that you should get a external fungus medication (powder) - I have tried oxy-cure - and use a small amount to apply directly on that spot .. it will heal on the 3rd day

it's more effective than to put a liquid medicine in the water...
