Just curious. I was snooping and found these intersting creature called King Tiger plecos, I got the L number, but have seen a few of these similar fish. Are they one in the same? Or just slightly different but same species?

I couldn't really find any info about them. Can someone help me out? Not that I'm able to get them, but I still like to know.

Hi,

during the past few years I could document with photographs for quite a series of so-called Hypancistrus species (e.g. L66, L172, L236), that their color pattern is more individual as species typically. L333 belongs also in this group, for L270, L199 we had the discussion in this forum just recently. In the last year march-issue of the magazine "Todays Fishkeeper" was an article about this with some pictures ("Zebra plecs and their relatives", p.49-54). This variety will also show up in the new aqualog, which should be printed in about two weeks.

Hello there,

We have both the L066 and the L333 at work.

The L333 is more yellow or golden in between the black stripes, and often show broader black stripes, on some individuals anyway.

I have 2 of the L333 or as we call them Golden King Tigers, in a well planted tank with plenty of bogwood hidey holes.

The golden colour develops alot more as the fish become more settled. If you like the L066 King Tiger I think you would really like these guys.

cheers

Thanks to both of you. I think I'm going to put that into my list of "learn more" fish. Sounds like I could really like them, but then again, I love all bottom guys.

I'm no expert, but the general opinion is that the L066 has black eyes and the L333 has golden eyes (like mine)
