Hello people

I know that the Cat-eLog has these as 2 different species but I was talking to someone who reckoned they are the same and they scanned a book showing this. I have looked around the internet and I am getting the 2 different views.

Ideas?

Below are pictures of both species, there are two main differences.

First is size, C. leopardus grows to about 70 mm sl and C. julii to aboyt 55mm, both sizes are for females, male about 15% smaller.

The second point of diference is in shape C. leopardus is a long snouted species and c. julii has a short snout and rounded head shape.

There are colour variations of both species but there should not be any confusion between the two species because of the size and mainly the head shape.

Thanks, you have made it very clear!

I am just trying to figure out which one I ave although I am 80% sure that (out of those 2 at least!) it is the julii.

Thanks Coryman

Hi,

Do check the pictures of TRILINEATUS as well, they are often labelled and sold as Julii and are a very variable patterned Cory.
