I'm new to this wonderful forum..
Hello
My Name is Jonas Eriksson, im a 18 year old boy from Sweden. I like a lot of fish, my primary interest is in African cichlids as Tropheus from tanganyika and Labidochromis, protmelas and aulonocara from lake malawi. I also like the catfish from the loricidae family, especialy L163 that my friend has.
I am thinking about getting a South american Earth-eater aquarium and if they would function good in such an aquarium together with cichlids from south-america. I'd love to get some tips for the kind of fish that i can keep in a 250l corner-aquarium and if the L 163 would work in such an aquarium?
I also wonder why you cat wirte cichlids and other things like it without getting it censored?
Thaks for a wonderful forum!

It's just a bit of harmless rivalry. If you want to talk to people about the family Cichlidae try http://britishcichlid.com/phpbb/index.phpJonas.E. wrote:Hello

There's been a couple of good threads about Eartheaters on there.

ok, i've been in helsingör many times, i lve in skåne so it's not such a big distance, maybe 50km from where i live.
ok, cichlid talk is somewhere else, can understand that(it would be a bit messy if the cichlidists invaded this forum aswell ).
I've liked catfidh ever since my father had our familys first aquarium, i can't remeber what kind of catfish but i think it was some of the loricidae family. It was a bit black and switching to grey and it was really ugly. We had two from the beginning and the other one was a lot more beutiful but it died one time when i accidentially dropped the whole food-container in the aquarum (it was a 90 litre aquarium, think about what effect a whole canister of tetra-food would do in that). I was afraid as hell that the fish would die and my mum and dad had already gone to work (i was like 7 years old or something) so i couldn't do much about it. When my mum and dad came home from work the whole house smelled of soaked fish-food (you know what it smells, i won't describe it) so my dad had to clean the whole tank just to get rid of the smell. Luckily his favorite scalare made it, but we lost some tetras and a catfish. That's my firts blooper with the aquariums, and there's more to it.
Now i am the one with the aquarium interest and have occupied a room in my parents basement where ia have my aquariums. I have:
1 540 litre with tropheus and some other tangs and a large ancistrus dolichopterus male, he must be like 14cm (i think it's around 5,6 inches, i don't know the inch-system that good)
1 375 litre with mixed juveniles and some sicj troph's. Here is my ancistrus dolichopterus breeding pair, not that big but they really give me a lot of baby-ancistrus.
1 250 litre with malawis and there i only have three Ancistrus dolichopterus.
Now you might see why i want some other kind of catfish than ancsistrus dolchopterus. I've been thinking about gibbiceps but they get so large, plecostumos(the black that's usually in the lfs) is a nice fish (my friend has one, i'ts as black as an hardrocker in the middle of the night ) but i don't know how big they get. I'll see what i'll get, they do have a lot of different catfish to choose from at my lfs and a lot of L-numbers
well, I'll see you öater, now i'm off to school.
