What about this little guy?

I have a few questions concerning my Bushynose Pl*co. I would love him or her to do well and grow well. Not a branch on it nose, but I hope thats because its young (like I read in a earlier post). Hes about a inch and a quarter long (nose to tail).

Is there veggie I can feed him other then algae (thats all he eats). I also worry because he shares the tank with fish that eat food with protien (I got sinking pellets for the cories with that have protein in them) ... i read Bushynoses can have stomach troubles if they eat protein so I stopped using the other pellets (but they weren't cheap so I'd like to use em again).

I also got a peice of driftwood from Big Als (very expesive) ... only to discover a metel screw used to hold it to the base, thats bad right? I was thinking of taking it off the base and boiling it, what do you think? I read he needs the wood.

I'm scared for him because he's in a bit of a trouble tank at the moment ... I'm trying to find some earlier time to fix is original home (as I have posted concerning other things with the temp tank and the original one). Anyway, Below is a pic of him in his 20G home before it started leaking. He isn't as happy in the 10G (fins mostly close to his body unlike picture) but I can tell hes hanging on. Still active, eating and stronge.

You can try cucumber, peas, lettuce, squash, zucchini, green beans, asparagus or broccoli stems. See this post for more ideas.

Only if there is way too much of it. A little protein now and then wouldn't hurt.

Not if the screw is stainless steel.

Thank you for the info ... I'll try some of those foods once I fix a little water problem. I'm glad I can still use the food!

I'll have to write to a metel company to find out what stainless steel screws look like ... mine has a sort of rainbow coating on it. I've stuck it in some water to see if it rusts ... but I have no idea now long that takes.

Again Silurus thank you for the info.

Beck.

If you take the screw into a local hardare store they can tell you what its made of, and they'd be able to sell you a new stainless screw for under a dollar.

Silurus,
great info. I was following the post and got some neat ideas for feeding my plecos from your link.
Thanks,

The screw sounds very much like a standard mild steel screw that has been 'plated' - usually zinc or chrome.

It would be best to remove the screw & get st. steel ASAP.

Any hardware shop will help you
