Congratulations! Thanks for sharing. 31 juvies sounds like a lot from one spawn. Is that normal?

A. claro are neat little plecos. In my experience, they have a little more of a feisty personality than the other Ancistrus I've kept.

Good luck with the babies.

Cheers, Eric

I think 20-40 is a normal amount, but have heard as little as 10 it quite common, my pair are fully grown and due to being kept until 4 weeks ago with a dominant super red BN pair (now removed and sold) they had never raised any fry before although i'm sure we had eggs at least once before.

Yes they do!... and painfully slow at that! :-)

That said, I recently moved all of mine from a 10 gal tank to a 36 gal tank, and they seem to be growing much faster. And finally, I can distinguish males from females among the subadults I bought a year ago.

Good luck with yours.
