Finally got more claro

At long last I picked up five wild caught subadult

Ancistrus claro

to add to my group of a dozen F3 Ancistrus claro from @Sailboat.

Now it's time for them to grow.

Here are the young claro I had already. I was able to find 11 of the 12 I started with. Largest specimen is 22mm SL (an increase of 7mm SL since I got them). I may have lost the 12th, or it's still in the larger tank I pulled these 11 out of.

A Claro are fun to watch, I have been keeping them for almost 3 years. Have been able to breed them but it is not easy.

Had my Wild caught Claro's 2.5 years - just had my 1st spawn.... 31 young @ approx 21 days and in United Kingdom

Sad news today. I've been growing out these claro for what seems like forever. Overnight my town had a series of short but recurrent power failures. As a precaution, I did a water change when I awoke and power was on again within an hour of the water change. But during the water change I found a dead claro, one of my largest specimens. I don't know if the death was coincidence or if the power failure resulted in her death (as far as I know, I haven't lost other fish, but I've been at work all day and haven't had time to pick apart all the tanks).

Either way, these grow so slowly it's very frustrating to have them so long without seeing any spawning behavior, and then lose one of the largest fish.
