Auchenepteridae from Suriname

Hi,
besides
Tatia creutzbergi (
gyrina) that I already know from past trips we also caught three more species.
The first one should be
Trachelyopterus galeatus, right ?
The second one
Centromochlus punctatus ?
But, what is this last one:
It seems not to fit perfectly to
Glanidium leopardum when I compare pictures and description in Mol's book or are they so variable ?
Cheers,

The last is Tatia brunnea. Color pattern closely matches the description on the 2008 revision.

Great job and great fish, Karsten! Enjoyed your post. I know next to nothing on woodcats but having kept 3-4 galeatus I'd agree that the first one looks like one.

Hi,
thanks, I didn't really consider Tatia brunnea as the picture in Mol's book look quite different.
However, I don't know too much about woodcats and guess that colour pattern can be quite variable...
They were all caught in Tapanahony river.
Cheers,

Very nice.
I think it is Centromochlus punctatus as well on picture 3 and 4

Karsten,
Your brunnea (or whatever they are) are gorgeous! Good luck with them.

This gives you an idea of the variability in color for this species.

The middle one is Cen. puntatus - I have a picture of one with confirmed ID at home.

Hi,
thanks again !
I only took the T. gyrina/creutzbergi with me. However, the brunnea & punctatus should be imported in the next weeks, but no space in my tanks any more...
So I thought we should better give them correct names before someone else takes them.
Cheers,
Karsten
