Can someone give me more info about habitats, reproduction etc of the L095. I've 10 L95 swimming in my tank. I've 5 males and 5 females, from 26 cm to 45 cm. Tanksize 3.05 m1 x 1.52 m1 x 0.90 m1 WH.
I'm curious of it's possible to breed them in captivity. As far as I know, nobody succeeded breeding them yet. That's why I wanna know every detail of the L95!!!

Hi Fred,
I have a tank coming in just over a week which I am having built specifically for this fish
, I also hope to breed it, but have not heard of any reports.
I did hear or read a while ago a hypothesis that they may spawn in depressions in wood or sunken trees, but I would certainly add a mix of cave sizes too just in case.
Given their docile nature, they have always seemed relaxed casually swimming about or resting when I have observed them, I would assume they live in slower parts of the river rather than rocky rapids. I am planning to use a fine sand substrate with some leaf litter, either oak or magnolia to begin with and plenty of large pieces of wood.
Good luck, please share any experiences you have with them, any pictures would be great too it sound like an impressive tank you have for them!
Once mine arrives I'll start a thread on it, its part of a new fish room, so it'll probably be a few months before I get the L95, to give me time to set everything up and move my existing fish in.

Hey Marc, what will be the size of your tank? I’ve read that L095 are eggs scatterers. And they live in muddy waters. Not in fast streaming rivers. If you want to see some pictures or movies, watch my FB page. Facebook.com/Freddie1968. There is an album called “tankmovies & pictures. You’ll see my tank from the beginning till now. There are serveral movies & pictures of L095.

The tank will be 240x92x65cm Length x Width x Height. I plan to keep 4-6 L095 and probably some Geophagus in it. I'll have a 150cm long sump underneath for filtration.
Your tank is certainly impressive, it looks great, how is it filtered? Everything looks well designed and tidy, no hoses or wires on show!

Nice size!
I've an inside filtration in my tank with appr. 600 litres of filtration material. I've a Jecod 9000 litres pump with a 2Kw pondheater. 2 Times a week I refreash my tank, each time 1600 L water. It's attached straight on my sewer. I've installed a mixer tap and my tank is filled up with water, 28 degrees, in 1,5 hour. I've 4 lightbars with powerleds 1 x RGB, 2 x warm- and 2 x coolwhite and a TC420 ledcontroller. Tank rubs for 1,5 year now without any problems.
My inhabitants are 11 Altum Atabapo F1, 25/35 cm, 20 Stur. Festivum, 2 Cren. Bellycrawlers, 30 Cor. Panda, 11 Chilodus Punctatus, 9 Hyphessobrycon Erythrostigma and 1 Platydoras Costatus.
But when I really decide to breed with my L95 then I'll sell everything.

The filtration sounds impressive and really well hidden!
I'm pleased you mentioned the Jecod pump, I was planning to use an Ecotech Vectra L1 for my return pump, but they are very expensive, so I started looking around and found the Jecod DCP-10000 which appears to have the same specifications and controllability but for £147 when the EcoTech is £399!
Have you found the Jecod pump to be reliable and run ok?

There is a controller at the pump. 10 different speeds. Low in the wattage! Super splendor. The Jecod is almost noiceless. I've two, 1 in reserve. They are cheap. It's my best purchage.

Thanks Fred, I was thinking of getting 2, one for the return and one for my water change refill system, so if I had an issue I could swap them over while I got a replacement.
