HI guys I'm not really sure if this is the right forum, but I need help identifying my Panaques.

I have a handful, and I have been fairly successful in growing out some of them..

I know the experts here can shed light on some of the "L90s" in the site below... Thanks!

Your "gold line" royal looks like the Colombian variant, because of the white splotch on the caudal peduncal. Not sure about the others though.

Hi!

I would say there is just two colour morph of the suppose L90 here, most of them should be the same species but with at various age stage!
I would say that your L27 is the one coming from the Rio Xingu!
Anyway very nice fish!

Thanks for the replies. The "goldline" appears to be the one from Xingu because the younger fish has those red pectoral fins, and the red color vanishes as the fish matures.

Yann, the L90s could be just one or two variants of the same species of fish, and not many as I initially thought. I see some Panaques in some sites being labeled as the true white tail Papa Panaque, which I have yet to see here. All these "papa" panaques that I own have black extensions on their tail fins.

Hi!

Yes the Papa Panaque is quite commom which is not the case of that black one with white tail! Still it seem they grow really large especially for theblack one!

the second page kinda looks like it has a few L239, PC has it listed as ancitrinae, but has been called blue panaque for a while. I'm not sure if that one was one of the questions or not, but if not, sorry

yes i used to have the "blue panaque", unfortunately it died a couple of days ago of still mysterious causes. well surely that sounds familiar doesn't it! :(

i surely would want to get my hands on a white tail panaque, if i can find one. papa panaques are all from peru is that correct?

Hi Mike, the other plecs are doing quite well. Except for the blue panaque, no casualties. Perhaps the panaque you recently bought is a Xingu as well.
