Is this a Clarias ngamensis?
Another catfish from Kwanza river. Is this a Clarias ngamensis?

I don't know how to key out the Clarias catfish, but according to GBIF, the only specimens stored from the Luanda region are . You have to get pretty far East to encounter .
Did you collect your fish in the Luanda area?

Yes I did Eric. But on fishbase that species is also present on Kwanza River, so, loking for the longer snout I think it's not a C. gariepinus.

This specimen looks really malnourished, so ID on body proportions is skewed. I’d not be confident of an ID unless from a Clarias expert.

Hi. I would say that it's not ngamensis based on the lack of an adipose fine (from what I can see in the photograph). Ideally one would also need to examine the vomerine toothpad. In ngamensis it is relatively deep, generally ovoid in shape and possesses blunt teeth.
