How long can an Albino BN pleco handle 86 degrees?

Hi guys and gals,

I'm new to the whole fish hobby (started in January) and I'm beginning my first battle with Ich as two of my pictus have it.

I am reading varying opinions on how long to keep temperature at 86 in the tank, anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. My favorite little fish is my albino bristlenose pleco and I wanted to know how long he could handle temperature of 86?

He is not a juvenile, he in fact came with the 40 gallon tank that I bought from someone. I'd say he is about 4 inches long.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I have a strain that stays at that temp or hotter all the time. Others don't last a week. Perhaps I have bred so many at high temperatures it no longer bothers. Problem is they look the same as those that don't. Not quite the answer your look for but it's an honest one.

make sure to increase the air in the tank/high flow. This will make it so he should be fine. I had a temp spike in a tank that i didn't realize for almost a month, they were in the mid 90s. I had 4 BN and a bunch of tetras in the tank.

Thank you both for the valuable information. I have two airstones in there now and keeping a watchful eye over my fish.
