For sale: Farlowella vittata twig cats, Manchester
Posted: 02 Jul 2016, 13:04
Some of you may have been following the long-running story of my twigs and twiglets. I have two breeding pairs of Farlowella vittata, and some of the youngsters are now big enough to find new homes (about 3" long, 8 months old). They should be sexable too, and based on my experience they'll be ready to breed this autumn.
The twig cats are happy and peaceful in a moderate-sze community tank. They're really characterful fish, very often on the front glass or resting on bogwood in full view. Max size about 7" but they're not active fish so can be happily kept in a moderate size tank. Although best in soft water, many people keep them successfully in harder water too.
They don't seem as fragile as some sources suggest, mine are pretty tough and the ones I have for sale are of course tank-bred so more used to captive life than the wild-caught ones you'll normally find in shops. (these fish are not commercially bred as far as I know)
Here's my long thread with lots of pictures of various sizes of twig cats:

I'm looking for about £5 each for these. Collection only from west Manchester, M41.
Let me know if you're interested. No great rush to move them on, but I will be advertising elsewhere soon.
Cheers,
Paul
