it looks like a cat, if it is then you shhould find it in the cat e log under the Ictaluridae family.
if it aint in that family then you caught whatever catfish someone threw out.
i'll start looking to try and identify it for you.

That is one weird, crazy-looking, skinny (cat?)fish.

Sorubimichthys planiceps, me thinks. Never heard of them being introduced in the US...

The Rustmeister is quite correct, it's a planiceps. Undoubtedly one that was bought as a cute 3" fish for some idiot's 80 gallon aquarium a couple of years previously.....

Wow, this is the first answer I have seen for this pic. Every other place I have seen it asked people start proposing that it is a photoshop of some sort.

I bet the guy who caught it was spooked when it barked at him! (Big Pims make a 'barking' sound when they're lifted out of the water)

Was the thing released? Eaten? What was the water like where it was caught?

Rusty-
The catfish was caught in a 40 acre lake in Fremont, Ca.
The lake is a former gravel pit so the water is usually fairly clear.
Don't know if it was released or not!
