Hello.
I've been checking out this forum for species id and other info for quite some time now. Figured it was time I joined.
WE live near Omaha, NE on 10 acres outside of city limits a few miles. We both work in the city, but pretend to be weekend ranchers with a few sheep, hogs, horses, turkeys, chickens, ducks, golden pheasants, and rabbits. WE have 4 dogs, ranging in size from Pomeranians to a 120 lb Giant Schnauzer, all rescue dogs. We have 1 inside cat, and 3 guinea pigs.
Our tanks and water features include a 6,500G koi and native catfish pond and several smaller ponds outdoors; a 220G indoor water garden with oscars, eclipse catfish, bichirs, and red-eared sliders; a 137G malawi cichlid tank with Synodontis cf. polli catfish; a 90G Amer cichlid tank with pictus catfish; a 90G community tank with 4 types of cory; a 25G livebearer tank with C. aeneus; and a 3G betta tank.
A positive to living in the country, is that our well water comes from an aquifer that's 300 ft underground. The water is pure, and nitrate and impurities free. It's also very hard and base (GH 280, PH 8.2), which works great for cichlids, not so great for several other fish types.

Sherlar welcome to the best forum on the internet for catfish. You can get a better education here than you would get from the university. I have learned so much here. You really are in deep with both feet when it comes to pets. If you can post some pictures. look to see you around.
