MOD:

I split off this post as it was going way off topic (indeed off forum) but still a cool post.

Standard glass in the UK for most manufactures is 8x2x2 or 200imperial gallons. But can order tank 2-3 times this size. Almost any size can be built one way or another, acrylic can be made up to 20x5x5 which is the one i want in the future(i wish).

Sorry about the off topic post...

Anyways... If that is feet I don't even think that we here in the US can order is 6 feet long. I really don't know the rest of the dimentions.

The largest tank available from All Glass Aquariums is 6' x 2' x 2', 180 US gallons. Oceanic Aquariums will make them pretty much any size you want, but if you go above an 8 foot 240 gallon, the price goes up dramatically.

I just got two 4x30x18 tanks made and am installing them this weekend. Each one is twice the capacaity of a 4x18x18 which is may favourite standard tank size. The base is made of 15mm glass!

Just so we know what we are comparing
20x5x5
, that's yards or meters or what?

The largest tank I've seen for sale in a shop here in the UK was 8' x 2' x 2'. I can recall how much it cost, but it was certainly in the high hundreds of pounds)

I picked up my 6' x 2' x 2' for a six-pack of beer 8) Getting into my cramped basement flat in London was an experience. It must weigh at least 150kg (10mm armoured glass with a 20mm base).

The largest cheap tank I can find is 4' x 1.5' x 1' for £50. It holds about 35 imperial gallons.

I'm on the lookout for a reasonably priced 4' x2' x 2' tank. What would be a good price?

I know somewhere that will make a 96 x 24 x 24 for you at a cost of 245 gbp.
Bare tank, not stand or hood etc. Can do any custom mods too for drilling etc.

They do 48 x 24 x 24 for 165 gbp.

They will pretty much make anything you ask for.

They made my 36x24x24 and i have been happy with it.

If you are intersted PM me.

here is another one for ya...... My guppie tank...... Some kid at a LPS siad he was getting a "wall tank" from some client. I asked about it and it was for sale....

Dimentions are 10"x10"x6.5feet any ideas if this is a custom tank? It looks factory, fairly thick glass 1/2" maybe. Just such a weird size, the kid said that he heard it was used to breed corals, cuz of the low height, but long length..... anyone????

This is not a standard size in the UK and the story about coral prop makes sence.

I got a glass Perfecto tank last month, 220 gallons,
24x36x72. My LFS proprietor said that was the largest
non-special order glass tank he could get.

The 36, is that height or width? I would love to get a 180 or 220 gallon one day, but for now, I am very content with my 110 gallon.

24 wide, 36 high, 72 long.

And still not big enough . . .

Skyetone where did you get a tank in Utah that size I have been unable to find anything that large. The long tank is probably a propegation tank for coral because of the low height I have a couple long ones for coral and for various types of bottom feeders that I use. I am unsure of why they make them long though.

some kid at petsmart one day in passing said "I am going to start a tank" I asked what size, "there is a kid here that has a 200 gallon he is selling" I bug out.... "how much, I could sure use that for my catfish....." "$200" I asked if he had ever even had a tank before he said no LOL

The kid that had the tank I later found and got the tank. He got it from a guy that had it saltwater I guess, He had it for a couple large iguanas, I rebuilt it and now it is SAcatfish.
Fish for you up here by me on highand and 40th ish has 110's alot. I used to see biguns at petco now and agian.

THe tank looks factory, but it never had any spreaders across the top. SCARED the bejeses out of me to fil it all the way withou them, so I built aluminum spreaders after plexyglass and epoxy failed.

Has anyone ever heard of somewhere to buy new tops for tanks? Or of a tank that size without spreaders?

I have seen some pretty big tanks on the redwood road petsmart they currently have a one on display although I am unsure of its exact size. I think I might just try to get mine custom built through a place that a teacher I know has had his built at. Because I want a wide tank not a high one, he uses his for coral, They are about 6 by 6ft and only a foot high. They are acrylic and nice tanks but will be expensive. No idea about the spreaders though sorry.

My girl saw a 240 in the thrifty nickle for 1500, complete setup. I don't know if there were fish, but I see big tanks now and again in the trib, or nickle.
I am in contact with all-glass, they say they never built a tank to that size. Ocianic hasn't gotten back with me yet.

I was at the Perfect web site (http://www.perfectomfg.com) and in their aquarium section they list a 265 dec. - demensions are - 84x24x30. Not sure what the dec. means. They have one at a LFS near me, it's setup but would look better at my house.

here locally the Dallas North Aquarium has installed some monter tanks. These probably arent commercially available except as a customer tank, but I may be mistaken.

http://www.dallasnorthaquarium.com/inde ... ub=gallery

Their website has a Chart with specifications for tanks from Oceanic, the largest there is 200 gallons so I would guess much larger than that is going to be for commercial use and probly not easily available to the general public (Im guessing).

http://www.dallasnorthaquarium.com/inde ... ifications

Marineland makes some seafood displays that are larger than 200 Gallons

http://www.marineland.com/products/comm ... ngular.asp

Marineland also has an aquarium called JetStream that is up to 265 Gallons.

http://www.marineland.com/products/cons ... stream.asp

That is all I have found.

Guys and Girls we are getting no where
yes big is great at what cost
have have seen 3mts x1.5 x 1.5mts $2000 . and no i did not buy it
but how are you going to get it home and what happens when you move.
the extra costs lights, filters and stand then you have to fill it with fish /plants
the greatest cost will be!
lifting it up and all your mates ticked off
when you find out your wife wants it moved after you filled it up.
priceless

Wall
i get in a enough trouble with 2 big tanks and a small fish room

Save your money and buy cinderblocks and epoxy instead.
1000 gallon tank

If your talking big tanks you are more or less talking about a perminent installation anyway. This would be much cheaper, but you will not be able to move it.
