Panaqolus Albivermis spawn
I would like to share my very first spawn with you here
Didn't see it coming, no trapping, the eggs where just there in the early morning of the 2nd of Januari!
Sadly the eggs didn't last, better luck next time.

Re: Panaqolus Albivermis spawn
Congratulations, Jac. I echo CharlieM9's comment, also - Once dad and mom discover sex, they often spawn repeatedly and parenting improves. Good luck.

Re: Panaqolus Albivermis spawn
Done it once! Hoping they will again soon, Did you make any changes in the days beforehand, or observe any? Seems Panoquolus species have some interesting prespawning behaviours at least mine have, helps with being prepared, any changes will be worth trying again, keep us updated.
Good luck!
Good luck!
Thanks Teresa

Re: Panaqolus Albivermis spawn
Congratulations.
I got tired of trying to get some from my group that I had for 4 years with no luck. Sold them to a buddy who got a spawn 6 months later without doing anything!
I now have fry from that spawn that I am raising up to try again. I think they are some of the most attractive loricarids out there.

Re: Panaqolus Albivermis spawn
Thank you all!
Yes I agree that these fish are very attractive! But I also like their behavior.
I have had this group for about 2-2,5 years now and last year they started trapping. I think I might of had eggs from them once before, just before I had to leave for the CSG convention in March last year.. When I got back no eggs and a skinny female ;)
They do not spawn frequently and can have long spells of nothing at all... As I said, this time they didn't even display any courting behavior nor had a seen them trap prior to the spawn. So I was pleasantly surprised!
Here is a video from last year, maybe nice to share as well.

Re: Panaqolus Albivermis spawn
After numerous trappings without result, they spawned again yesterday Trapping only took one day, no other significant spawning behavior.
I collected one egg that was outside the cave yesterday and put it in an egg tumbler. It's still fine today so I will try and make pictures of this egg and it's development from now. Fingers crossed again!

Re: Panaqolus Albivermis spawn
Sadly lost all eggs due to fungus. Yesterday there were no eggs in the cave with the male. I only had one egg left, but this morning that also was lost..
Still, I'm very happy with this result. Getting eggs from a difficult species is always exciting and awesome! When they spawn again (I will have a long wait I think) I will take the eggs and incubate them myself to protect them from fungus and end up with some fry next time ;)
I took some pictures yesterday but you can clearly see I was losing them. Eggs Day 3.
