Can anyone help id this syno species?

Trying to help a friend. The fish is approx. 8" long. Picture is not great, but fish doesn't come out much.

Fish was purchased in the UK, as an adult, so juvie pattern is unknown.

He was thinking s. ocellifer, but I think the adipose fin is too short.

I was thinking s. eupterus, but the dorsal fin rays are too short. Or possibly s. nigrita?

Also cannot get this image to save properly.

Thanks!

Pic is pretty rough, has he tried catching it and taken pictures of it in a bucket or something?

is the best I can come up with.

It is a poor pic but catfishchaos suggestion is about as good as I think we can go without a clearer photo - has it got some netting caught in the dorsal?

Thank you for replying.

Here is another picture.

I'm still thinking s. nigrita. You can see that second headcap right in front of the dorsal fin in this picture and it has the white tip on the dorsal fin.

If these are the same fish it is definitely not S. nigrita...look of hybrid to me as said above.

It could be a hybrid involving but its probably not a true . It also looks like the white tip in the dorsal fin actually just the spike protruding through the fin tissue.
