Just interested in how rich your LFS is!!!
Rules-It can't be shippings.
It has to be a LOCAL fish store.
Pet Zones in large shopping centers count.
Also, the species of catfish found in your LFS listed would be appreciated.
This is just for fun so have fun!

Here in my area lately I have not seen much of anything and hope it is not a lasting trend.

Commonly:
Various otocinclus
Various hypostomus
Synodontis nigriventris
Ancistrus cf.cirrhosus
Corydoras pygmaeus
Corydoras aeneus
Corydoras panda
Corydoras sterbai
There's more of the typical common species but I cant remember all of them(glass cat, farlowella,Etc)

Occasionally:
Bunocephalus coracoideus
Agamyxis pectinifrons
Platydoras armatulus
Microglanis iheringi
Panaquolus maccus

San Antonio's LFS's are pretty average for freshwater, but there are some very good saltwater ones (get things like $700 joculator angelfish and $199 pintail fairy wrasse and a ton of corals) but people seem to think freshwater is a beginner's hobby here. If you're willing to drive 1.5 hours to Austin they have some good stores (Aquadome is neat), but Dallas has the best out of the LFS's I've visited in Texas (the fish gallery is nice). Or maybe it's just that a visit to Pier Aquatics a couple years ago spoiled me and now I'm a fish snob.

Whoever voted for 100+ species must live near Pier or Utaka amersfoort or something like that...

I think these were listed in a previous thread, but because of the relevance, I'll list them: In Stockton-Lodi region of Central California, there are five "local" fish stores (NOT counting chain stores like PetSmart and Petco), which is pretty remarkable considering the combined size of the two adjacent cities, and within an 1 - 1.5 hours of here there are at least a dozen more (South to Modesto, North to Sacramento, and West to Oakland and San Francisco). I'm pretty lucky in that regard.

Focusing only in the neighboring cities of Stockton and Lodi, among the LFS you can find the following cats all the time:
Corys:
Aeneus (bronze and albino)
Paleatus
Trilineatus
Sterbai

Loricariids:
P. pardalis
A. cf. cirrhosus (normal and albino)
P. maccus
Oto cats (usually not ID'd)

Other South Americans:
Pimelodus pictus

North American:
Channel catfish (blue and albino)

Africans:
Syno. nigriventris
S. eupterus and one or more hybrids

Asians:
Glass catfish (Kryptopterus vitreolus)
Iridescent Shark

With some frequency, we also get
Corys:
agassizii
schwartzi
pandas
various dwarf and pygmy corys

Loricariids:
Chaetostoma formosae
Gold nuggets
Green phantoms
Royal plecos

Other South Americans:
Banjo cats (but only Bunocephalus)
Whiptail cats
Twig cats
Shovelnoses
Red-tailed cats
Raphael cats (spotted and striped)
Bumblebee cats

Africans:
Yeah, some synos, but they're probably all hybrids - I can't tell.
African glass catfish

Asians:
Sun cats

That may sound like a lot, but that also represents most of the extremes - it's rare for us to get anything besides these. Besides the exotics found if I go all the way to San Francisco, I do occasionally find some less common loricariids, corys, and some of the Asian cats if I go to Modesto (Tropical Haven) or the Sacramento area (Lees' Feed & Western Store - yeah, I know, right? Doesn't sound like a fish store, but their selection is the best in the area, albeit somewhat pricey).

Cheers, Eric

P.S., In terms of voting in the survey question, I answered only with regard to what's available in LFS in the Stockton/Lodi area, not the greater area around me).

I agree, Smitty, especially in regards to the number of stores around. I have to admit that sometimes I feel the stock available is "the same old things." But really, it is respectable.

Cheers, Eric
