Centromochlus Perugiae spawned
Yesterday I came home from work finding my Centromochlus Perugiae had spawned for me
The eggs were outside the caves on some slate. So I put them in an Egg tumbler.
24 Hours later the eggs look fine and the tiny embryo's are developing inside the eggs
It's nice to breed something different from Suckers this time Fingers crossed!
Some pictures made yesterday after discovery: (sorry cellphone pics....)

Very nice Jac! These are one species I have been trying to acquire and play around with! For now the Tatia dunni and centromochulous reticulatus will have to be the play species!

Re: Centromochlus Perugiae spawned
Hi Jac,
Do you have any updates for us on these little guys? I've recently gotten six adults and I'm looking forward to some baby motor boats too. But I don't know what to expect. How big are your babies now? Have you experienced any significant mortality among the babies? Assuming that you've released them from their hatchery by now, are they back with the parents? And
Cheers, Eric

Are those fry in the photo really 1cm? Is that TL or SL? They seem to be growing very fast.jac wrote:1 Centimeter of Centromochlus Perugiae posing for the camera today

Re: Centromochlus Perugiae spawned
Hi Eric,
The baby's are doing fine and yes, just before I left for my holidays I released them into the main tank with the adults. They don't grow exceptionally quick, the biggest are around 2cm now. They still only feed from the surface, the adults will also feed from the bottom. So you really need some floating baby foods.
And I found out you can't keep younger fry with the older ones. They will be eaten! I put 25 L309 wigglers in the little fry box, a day later only 5 were left.... My 1,5cm Oil baby's were fat.... They will also certainly eat baby wiggler Oil cats so that's why I never had any more luck after the first lot. Now I know I will have to raise each batch separately. Just something you learn along the way
Here are some pictures of the biggest juveniles at their release: (sorry for the phone pics..)

Re: Centromochlus Perugiae spawned
Hi @jac,
Okay, thanks. So your largest juvies are about 2cm (SL or TL?). What is the SL of your adults? How long were they when they spawned?
Even the smallest of my six are mature enough to show sexually-dimorphic anal fins (I definitely have some small males); I would estimate that these same individuals are only 2.5cm SL. My largest are about 3.5cm, maybe 4cm at the most. It seems that my fish, even though they can easily be sexed and a couple of the females are really rotund, still have some growing to do before they will be ready to spawn.
Thanks, Eric

My measures are in TL. My adults are all wild caught and where fully grown. The females are a little bigger, al about 5cm max. And my males are around 4-4,5cm.

Well done I am really jealous I have been trying to get more of these. Got 2 and a 3rd that was tiny never made it sadly and they are the size of your little ones. They eat like pigs but don't grow fast.
Any details on how you triggered them? Mine still appear to be babies

Re: Centromochlus Perugiae spawned
I haven't found a real trigger. Just feed well and play a little with waterchanges ;)
The fry are doing really well. Every morning I get a display of little motorboats cruising along the surface, feeding time The rest of the day I don't see them, or maybe just one or two.
