Hey guys live my bristlenose and aussie peppermints got 6 3ft 18x18 breeding tanks with a trio in each.
Now look in my tanks and see alot of water for just three fish. Considering dropping another male and female in each task to make it 2m 3f i think there's room and i often take out the males to put into fry tankS when on eggs
My main question is what species make good tank mates for bristlenose especially species i can breed in the same tank which won't upset the bristlenose. I was thinking mouth brooding cichlids but worried they might hassle the males in the caves and eat eggs especially if they are kicked Peacocks wear my thought. I was also thinking of breeding discus in other tanks and using the bristlenose breeding tanks as grow outs but have heard bristlenose attack discuss when they are resting, might be to much flow as well for them.

I have kept goldfish with bristlenose, also peacock malawi cichlids with bristlenose, also kept a synodontis with bristlenose. They do fine with fancy goldfish but can get a bit aggressive over food, so best to feed the goldfish floating food. Bristlenose are a great bottom dwelling community tank member, I would be wary of keeping them with smaller catfish such as corys only because bristlenose barbs can cause serious injury and they tend to be aggressive when eating.
