First time caller, long time listener

Hello to all. Doing the hello thing and making my big intro, ta da! I'm Dale and in Erie PA, work for an Insurance company, provide PC desktop support for them. On the fishy side, I am the president of the Erie Aquarium Society, for the past year. Have 8 aquariums running, and building a room in the basement for them (then I can get more). I am more of a hobbyist in this, but like to treat the fish I have with care. That means I need to continue to learn. Have been using Planet Catfish for the pics and articles. Met Ian F. in Ohio, at an OCA event, he and Paul T. said I needed to join in here. Fish that I am interested in info. Have grown in the african (excuse, but some are cichlids) but it was the syno petricolas (8) and multipunctatus (10) that got me there. I still have a strong desire to breed some plecos, (don't believe the '*' thing kills them, bit use it at times). I have 2 kinds of gold nuggets, though one may be a third type L-81, 2 are L-18 and 4 L-177s. Have 4 that appear to be LDA-1, sold as orange trim (common name). And the favorites are the zebras, and there are 27 of them. 6 are in their own setup, with a couple of cardinal tetras as dithers. They are the oldest and the ones I am messing with, or maybe just leaving alone to see if I can get them to go. I've had a tank since I was ten, but it has been the last 5 years were I really got bit, or just thought, hey I can get more!! More is better, more more more. Hope that doesn't look too childish. Considering the fact that most of us joke about what furniture we really don't need in our house at times, in order to make more room for tanks, I doubt you'd need to worry about us thinking its childish of you to want more tanks!

They aren't even too terribly prejudiced against the few of us that keep african seeklids, hehe. I'm pretty attached to my stuff from Tanganyika also. At some point, I MUST get enough tanks to be able to put the S. petricola in a tank with a spawning uplift, but right now that's just not going to happen unless I find someone selling one of those new fishie shoehorns that my friend Lampy was telling me about!

Just to be curious, you keep Cardinal as dither for your Hypancistrus zebra... is that correct... hey don't worry these Guys are no Cichlids!!!!
Plus Hypancistrus zebra prefer fast current High oxygened water which is about the opposite of the cardinal...

Hey Ian, it was good talking with you, and attending your presentation, and lunch was pretty good as well last Saturday. You really get around. Look forward to the CSG mags.
Yann - never even gave the cardinals a thought, just was looking to 'pretty up' the tank, I picked up 40 for another tank that is setup to what they would prefer. I don't know, there are only 3 in with the zebras, but they seem to be fine. In fact seem to like the current at times, but I'll consider moving them.
I do have seeklids - so that's how you get around the auto correction, just misspell. Here I thought everyone was just lousy at typing. Kidding.
I've jumped around the forum and will look at all the info, and decide which I want to get the zebs more interested in doing what comes natually.

there are some other Tanganyika die-hards here; Barbie, Dinyar, me etc
most of us have the "dithers" too

in my case 12 TROPHEUS! (T sp black Rutunga; aka Brabantmoori)
and a pair of Eretmodus, 8 Cyathopharynx furcifer, 6 Astatotilapia burtoni "Tanganicae" and a few "Lamprologus" brevis magara.

and my own non-catfish tank-jewels are these:

I have currently
Synodontis polli and the elusive
Synodontis "polli White" from Zambia, wich is currently the item of a long and hot debate; new species or hybrid?

I traded my petricola dwarfs on the last auction and I'm on the hunt for the hard-to-get Burundi petricola now.

Lophiobagrus cyclurus
Lophiobagrus brevispinis (wait and see...)
Phyllonemus typus

and lately THIS cuty, wich unfortunately will one day outgrow my tank

and some riverine cats in other tanks as well
