Can any one tell which of the above plecos would be the most social ? I am making som room in a 150 gal 6ft tank and was interested in adding another pleco. It took almost 5 months for my l200 to come around and dont mind long acclimation periods but do not want someyhing i will never see.Curren inhabitants are peaceful cichlids (heterospilus, pearsei, and hrp), L200 green phantom pleco, and a spotted raph cat.

Not quite answering the question, but my young 6" L24 is very outgoing.
She's usually in view on the substrate but sometimes ventures higher in the tank to show off.
However, I don't keep her with any other plecos (well nothing bigger than Otos). I'm not sure she would get on well with them.

Yes, they're all Pseudacanthicus species that are probably quite closely related but haven't yet been formally described.
They are hungry carnivores and will be boss of the tank.

L24 and L25 appear similar apart from colouration, so an L25 would probably behave similarly to an L24.
I moved my L24 into her new 450L tank at the weekend, and within 24 hours she was out and about showing off.

I have seen videos online of Pseudacanthicus kept with other similar-sized plecos but I haven't done it myself and have read that there could be aggression issues. Hopefully someone more experienced can comment.

I used to keep some plecos with L114, L24 and L25 and from what I've observed:

1. Pseudacanthicus are most agressive towards own species.
2. L25 seems to be a fight till die one, never runs away from a fight, L114 was most "social" and with enough wood and rocks I was keeping this pleco with L128 for some time without bigger porblems, both fish were around 14cm.
3. Size matters. When I was keeping small albino gibbiceps with 35cm L25, the big guy doesn't care at all till the smaler one grow to around 20cm, then were some harder months till gibby outgrowed pseuda. However my gibbiceps is super calm, so every time L25 started a fight he slowly went to the other side of the tank.

Do l600 typically get much larger than 12 inches ?

Anyone with l273 ?

I don't have any experience with L273, sorry... it's on my wish list !

But I have 2x L25 (6 and 8''), 6x L24 (3x 3-4'', 1x 6'', 1x 9-10'', 1x 11-12''), 4x L114, 2x L160, 1x L65.
Both L24/L25 have similar behavior, L25 are more shy, but like to fight like most pseuda.
L24 are more outgoing/active, they fight, but less than the L25 and a LOT less than the L114...

But generally, pseuda are more shy compared to other pleco like L128/L200 or L91/L240 for examples.
But they get more active when they get 6''+, they get more confidence maybe ?
It also depend on your budget, pseuda can e very expensive (in Canada at least...)

Good Luck !

Thanks all, I'm learning a lot here too!
My local pleco-shop has an 18" long L24 - I don't know if L600s get so big though.

Guys would putting an l600 or l273 in a 75 gal with a gold nugget and vieja argentea (does not bother plecos only conspecific aggression) be too much ?

L273 would be shy. L600 is much bolder. At least my L600 is. Either would be fine in your 75 as long as you don't get a monster to start with.

Could I reasonably put any other pleco in my 450-litre with my 6" L24? If so, what sort of size and species could I consider?

You can keep just about any smaller plecos with your L24". Where you would run into problems is if you keep same sized or bigger aggressive plecos. There are so many different ones that you can keep it would be much simplier if you asked about the specific ones you're interested in.

Thanks! I was working on the basis that she would not get on with any other plecos (though I know from experience that she tolerates Otos and young Brochis as they are so much smaller)

I was thinking of trying a couple of Farlowellas as they tend to live higher up in the tank so wouldn't be in my L24's territory. But if 'normal' but smaller plecs are an option then I will have to consider the possibilities. I do love plecs!

My 450-litre tank is heavily filtered and has an auto water-change system so stocking levels are more determined by territorial issues than water quality. At the moment it's fairly empty with just the L24, 8 small Brochis splendens and 5 Biotodoma cupido (small cichlids).

The only l600 I can find are about 6 inches and the existing gold nugget is about 3 ...would that be a problem in a 75 gal. Also have a 150 with a green phantom but I think I would be pushing the limits on that tank bioload wise
