Pangasius ID

Post by Jorge »

A girl is trying to identify this pangasius in a spanish forum:

Image

It looks as a juvenil of P. hypophthalmus, but the green iridiscence and black tail has made me to think in Pangasius conchophilus even when I'm probably wrong

Any idea?

Pangasius conchophilus has a longer snout than the fish in the picture. I am thinking it might be P. bocourti instead.

Hi Jorge

This fish is juvenile of Pangasius sanitwongsei that have dark spot at anal fin.

Pangasius conchophilus have a slender body and pointed snout.

Juvenile of Pangasius bocourti are very closly P. sanitwongsei but they don't have dark spot at anal fin.

Thanks, Chaiwut.

Then you think this fish is the same of this link: Pangasiussanitwongsei in spanish ?

In Fishbase, they say that can reach 3 meters and 300 kg. Is this information correct?

Thanks again. :D
