Generally speaking, I have no experience with Hypancistrus, tank bred fishes are easier to breed

Firstly, their parents were able to breed in a tank, that is, they were adaptable enough to breed.
Secondly, in any tank we select on survivability in a tank. In most cases we loose some fishes which might die because the tank did not suit them

Anyway, tank bred fishes have been selected on 2 major field - hence they are easier to breed

My F1 L333 I got from apistomaster have definitely been way more productive than any of the wild-caught Hypancistrus I've ever bought. But even with my limited experience, I would expect, yes, tank-bred fish should be easier than wild-caught fish.

My L184 wilds were a pain to get fry from. The F1's were so easy they spawned before I even realized they were mature enough. Tank raised have definitely been easier to spawn here.
