I tried to send a couple PM's -- they are now in the 'outbox' and not in the 'sent' folder. Did I do something wrong? I did not see an option to send from the outbox but in outbox, it says the messages were sent.

Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong?

Usually outbox indicates that a PM was sent, but has not been read by the recipient.

Yes, that's right. They stay in your outbox until the recipient opens their inbox at which instant they are transferred.
