Hi there
I just bought this little catfish from Wildwoods who received it as part of a shipment of wild Microsynodontis polli.
Does anybody know what species it might be??
Thanks for your help! Regards
Andre

Re: Syno? ID please
It looks to be a juvenile of possibly or these two species are often confused as juveniles... I am not able to look further until later in the day.
Also may not know until it grows and has adult pattern.
Hmmm I am now thinking the latter species...keep these pictures and come back later please. I would be interested to see it in its adult form.

Hi Birger
Many thanks for your response. I just googled the distribution of these species. Both Synos you suggested exist in DR Congo where M. Polli also can be found so that could tie in with what I was told about this juvenile syno coming in as a contaminant with the pollis.
Took a few more pics below before I released it.
Thanks again

Re: Syno? ID please
Nearly positive that I used to have a group of three of these several years ago - really fun little cats & never grew up all that much past about 3"
Have you looked at : http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/spe ... es_id=1945
Seemed to be the closest ID I could come up with although I'm not sure if they overlap in range with the Pollis or how concrete that listing is.
