will my ottos breed ?

Post by pete »

The ottos in my planted tank seem to be doing well at the mo and are looking quite plump.
Are they likely to breed?
there are 5 of them with some guppies and amano shimp.

Pete,
With good food and water conditions there is no reason that you should not attain a spawning. Your main problem will be the guppies and shrimp as otos are not very aggressive defenders of their eggs. Most successful spawnings and rearings happen in a species tank because the otos do not have to compete for food and you can find their eggs before something else devours them.
