Has anyone ever seen a "Dwarf or Pygmy " Corydoras aeneus! I have at least one that is over a year old but only 1/3 the size of the other adults. I still have the first generation. I am hoping to get more this year. I had more but most died at a earlier age.

The other tank mates are its brothers & sisters. I have never separated them. Any comments?
Note: Picture (1)the fish below the cup, with the mask are a different species!

It could just be a fish with some sort of health problem (nanisme). This could happen because it or its parents were not properly fed and were living in an environment with poor quality water or something is not right with its genes. This could explain why the other dwarves died. I'm not saying that you are not providing your fish what they need. This 'problem' could have started generations back and your dwarf fish carries these genes. That's my opinion anyway-I had a betta fish a while back that didn't grow as much as it should have, because it was the outcome of a low grade breeding.

To my knowledge there are about 14 Aeneus-variaties. Different sizes, colouration aso. I am keeping 5 (including Venezuela) myself. I do have one species that's a lot smaller than the others (I think they are closely related to Venezuelas or even crossbreds). These ones look like the same species though !!! Males are smaller, but this difference is enormous hahaha.

I was wondering if it carried the dwarf gene and could be bred as a "Dwarf or Pygmy" version of Corydoras aeneas. :-BD
