Hi People!

So: I´ve bought myself a red Oscar. . which I´ve planned to buy for about a year. He´s really a beautiful little fish, about 7 cm (Won´t be long before he´s gigantic. . )

But I´ve got one question: He´s really hungry - all the time! And pretty greedy too. How would I know how much to feed him? It´s not like an ordinary fish: he practically jumps up and bites my fingers, when I feed him. I wouldn´t like to starve him - on the other hand I don´t want to give him too much food.

I know it´s not a catfish-question, but. .

Why not try posting your question on the British C-ichlid Association Forum?

You only need to feed juvie oscars 2-3 times a day and adults 1-2 times a day. They ALWAYS beg for food so get used to it

It's weird, still. I'm a catfish-lover for ALL (!!) of my fishkeeping years and I like cichlids too.

but it's interesting to see that cichlid is a swearword here, whereas c*****h is just plain "catfish" on all of the cich-lidforums I hang out (wich is quite a few)

There ARE people there that don't like catfish, or nag about the amount of poop a Common Pleco produces, but they're very rare, compared to the people over here that don't like cich-lids......

But about 80% of all the posts are of the "Hi, I have a frontosa in a tank with a pleco. The pleco poops a lot. What can I do??? Oh, and BTW, if the front and pleco have sex, will I get baby frontosa? Thanx!" variety. There are a few helpful people on there though, Sid being one of them.

Rusty i think you might have hit the nail on the head there, quote from the cichlid forum:
