I have a 125ltr tank or 33 gallon tank,


Water is fine
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrate 10

DGH is around 17/18
Ph around 7.6- 7/8


I want a little pleco or catfish.


I've come across a clown pleco which seems to be ok for my water and for tank size


I have a few fish in the tank already, 3 Molly's, 6 cardinels and 6 Harliquens.


What u think guys

A clown pleco would be fine. There are many plecos that stay small. Check out this list if you would like more options. Good luck.

Thanks, there is quite a lot of small pleco out there, just have see if my local aquatic place has them,

They did have a tiny black one with bright orange lines over him, no tag so no idea what it was, but he was amazing.

Could be an L306 maybe ? We can't get those here in the states, and I would kill to a have a group of those. Good luck.

There maybe none in UK, just trying to look at options that suit tank and the fish.

Clown seems great and if I can find something that enjoys same water and similar size here in UK I'll be happy

I wouldn't be too concerned with PH levels. Most plecos are tolerant and adaptable to a wide range of PH levels. Just FYI.

That's brill. Just want to make sure a pleco I do get will thrive in hard water rather then just bare it.


In UK lot of common and bristlenose about.


I did find a honey combe driftwood cat fish but I was told it won't do well in my water hence why looking again.

It would be fine. Check the listing on this site for L104, which is the common clown pleco. I keep mine in a community tank, and they do fine.

Tropical rivers are loosly classified into three types: whitewater, blackwater, and clearwater.

Whitewater is typically neutral in pH and relatively high in minerals/sediments. The colour of the water is not white, but more like tea/coffee with milk.

Clearwater is slightly acidic, and has few minerals/sediments. The colour is clear, often with a green or brown tinge (think weak tea with no milk).

Blackwater is very acidic with no minerals/sediments. The colour is very dark black due to the dissolved organic material (think coffee with no milk).


Generally the whitewater and clearwater species adapt much better to hard tapwater than the blackwater species. The is from the Llanos of Colombia, so is a whitewater species, and an ideal choice for a hard water tank.

You'll want some wood in the tank.

Yes wood is good, they eat as part of there diet if I'm correct.
