Would striped or spotted raphael catfish be safe to keep with corys, or would the corys be eaten?

Anyone had experience keeping the two together?

I've never kept the two together, and probably because just looking at it, it doesn't seem like a good idea. P pictus is a fast moving gulper and can put plenty of food away pretty quick. Most cories can move ok but just can't gulp their food like the Pim. Would have to make sure the cories get enough to eat all the time.
Another possibility to look at though is some of the imitator pim's that are now in the Heptapteridae group. They have color patterns like cories, but are probably not as aggressive as P. pictus. May not be easy to find though.

Good luck

I meant Agamyxis pectinifrons or Platydoras armatulus, not P. pictus.

It will work fine, I have a striped Raphael catfish in with a few bronze corydoras in my 30 gallon and they never even pay attention to each other (my Raphael is only 3 inches though and he is going into my 75 in a few weeks). Now the only time I would not do it is if the corys can fit in the Raphaels mouth. Raphaels don't however have an extremely large mouth. If you have a choice between Striped or spotted then I would go with spotted just because they stay smaller.

Do remember, please, Raphaels live very long. I have 2 striped ones which I got in 1988. OK, I bought 3 and I only have 2 left, but the third one died in 2012 - 24 years later, that is.

These are nice fish, but not meant for someone who regularly changes his fishes

I kept them together for at least 3 years, maybe 4, up until the raphs all passed away. The corys are really fast swimmers, and my Raphs were never interested in anything but cuddling with them. I just added new baby raphs and still the same dynamic. They'll outgrow the corydoras for sure, but they were amicable to each other, and I don't foresee that ever changing. :) Hope that helps!

My Raphaels don't bother anybody. They just sleep and eat, much like teenagers. 😉
