Hi, can't answer you about aggression, depends how many you put in there and how many caves for them, but they CAN mate, no matter if you want them to or not..they are gonna do what comes naturally. Can you choose only L200's or only L128's ?

just a note, they need high oxygen, so i keep my water level lower(1 inch) than the tank rim, and have 2 HOB's-aqua clear70's and a hydra-sponge filter plus 2 air stones , 3 caves on a 54g trigon/corner tank for 2 L128's. Good luck , Georgie

I have no problem with them, it's already five year and counting that they together.
Three L200, tree L128, six L187, with some Discus and other L's

x mario:maybe you do not have both sexes, perhaps you do not fit the holes, but they are animals that can hybridize if reared together

Can someone point me to the documentation of Baryancistrus hybridizing with Hemiancistrus. Thanks.

@Shane (and everyone else)

I think when people talk about these hybridising they are thinking L200 as the hemiancistrus subviridis not L200 hi-fin Baryancistrus Demantoides.

As far as i'm aware L128 still could be H.subviridis, so if they are they wouldn't be hybrids per se but a cross of different variants of the same fish

If you have the hi-fin then its a different genus to the L128 so breeding between them will not happen

I've had some L128 for a few years now, and am leaning more to the fact that L128 and L200 are the same species. There are days when my largest male is closer to green w. yellow spots than grey/blue with light blue spots. He was definitely blue when I bought him, but color is probably more diet related. AFIK, they both are in the same river, just that L128 lives upstream.
That all being said, it seems L200 is "easier" to breed in the aquarium... not sure why that would be. Though, neither commonly breed in aquariums, I'd think the chances of 'hybridization' would be unlikely w/o a dedicated breeding tank.
