Pseudacanthicus with broken hard ray on Caudal fin

Post by Hitch »

Hi

Just wanted to ask a quick question about whether the hard fin would grow back under normal/clean/healthy conditions. I know with minor injuries on hard ray or damage on soft rays are no problem since they grow back pretty quickly, but as I was moving my L24, about 1" of its hard ray broke off (the ray itself is only about 2" in length).

Would it grow back eventually even with this level of damage?

Thanks

All the rays in the caudal fin are soft rays, and should grow back easily.

Last month, I got a huge, 12 inches, male "Scarlet" L-25 which was cut upper caudal hard ray one-third off from its caudal fin.

Within two weeks or so, the new ray tip has formed.
